This year we truly wanted to feel the Christmas cheer and comfort with some homemade specialities. We wish to share with you a Christmas mulled wine & cinnamon biscuits recipe. The spices will create a delicious smell in the kitchen. We hope you have fun making these so you can enjoy a heartwarming moment with friends and family.
Christmas Mulled Wine recipe
♦ 75 cl of wine (Merlot is ideal)
♦ 100g of sugar brown sugar
♦ The juice of an orange
♦ 1 orange zest
♦ 2 cardamom pods
♦ 2 cloves
♦ 1 star anise
♦ 1/2 vanilla pod
For decoration (optional):
♦ 2 slices of orange
♦ 2 cinnamon sticks
♦ 2 anise stars
Preparation (24 hours in advance):
Step 1 :
Heat the red wine in a saucepan with brown sugar.
Step 2 :
Add a whole star anise, a stick of cinnamon, two cloves, two cardamom pods and 1/2 vanilla pod (open it and scrape it to recover the seeds with the tip of a knife).
Add a zest of orange and the juice of this orange. Boil for 4 minutes. Cut the fire, cover and let stand for 24 hours.
Warm it at the last moment, pour with a strainer into the cups. Decorate with star anise, a cinnamon stick and 1/2 slice of orange per cup.
Cinnamon Biscuits recipe
♦ 250 g flour (1 cup 3/4)
♦ 100 g of soft butter
♦ 70 g of sugar (1/3 cup)
♦ 1 egg
♦ 1 tablespoon cinnamon
♦ 1 pinch of salt
Step 1 :
In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Step 2 :
Cut the butter into small pieces, and add to the previous mixture. Add the egg, then work the dough with the fingertip.
Form a ball, film it and put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Spread the dough, then cut the biscuits with the help of cookie cutters.
Arrange them on a baking tray protected with baking paper. Bake for 10 minutes in an oven at 200 ° C.
Sprinkle with icing sugar (but you can also sprinkle with cinnamon or powdered chocolate) and let the biscuits cool down.
